Bradley Arant Rose & White LLP Adds Three Lawyers To Huntsville Office

Frank M. Caprio, Stephen H. Hall and Mark Swanson will focus on intellectual property
Huntsville, AL - Bradley Arant Rose & White LLP is pleased to announce that it has added three lawyers to the firm’s Huntsville office. Frank M. Caprio and Stephen H. Hall have joined as partners, and Mark Swanson joins as an associate, to the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Along with Wendy Babcock, IP Specialist, they are joining Bradley Arant from Lanier Ford Shaver and Payne P.C.

About Frank M. Caprio
Mr. Caprio specializes in intellectual property law and assists clients in the protection and use of their intellectual property rights, and in the litigation of various technology-related disputes involving patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and computer issues. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Intellectual Property Law and the Information Technology Law sections of Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Caprio has served on the Panel of Neutrals, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. He is a past President of the Madison County American Inns of Court. He has served as Vice Chair and a Board Member for the Biztech Technology Incubator. He is a registered patent attorney, the current chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Alabama State Bar Association, and a past Chair of its Military Law Committee. Mr. Caprio has served as an Adjunct Faculty Member for the University of Alabama School of Law, teaching Patents and Copyrights, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville, teaching Engineering Law. Among his areas of community service, he is the incoming Chair of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a graduate of Leadership Alabama.
Mr. Caprio received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, his M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was awarded the Order of the Coif, Dean M. Leigh Harrison Scholar, Hugo Black Scholar and was the Senior Editor for the Alabama Law Review. He was a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team, and later the faculty coach of that team for six years. He co-authored "The Trouble with Brulotte: The Patent Royalty Term and Patent Monopoly Extension," 1990 Utah L. Rev. 813 (1991) and 24 Intellectual Property L. Rev. 119 (1992).
Mr. Caprio worked in industry as a Weapon Systems Engineer on missile programs, warhead testing programs, and six-degree of freedom simulations. He also flew many years of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) missions as a Mission Commander in the Lockheed P-3 Orion aircraft, retiring with the rank of Commander after a Command Tour.
About Stephen H. Hall
Mr. Hall’s practice is centered in the areas of intellectual property and technology. He represents a wide variety of established and emerging businesses and individuals in the development, exploitation, and protection of all aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Hall prepares and prosecutes patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Additionally, Mr. Hall's practice includes a substantial trademark prosecution practice, as well as technology rights acquisition, transfer, negotiation, and licensing. Moreover, Mr. Hall has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts in their intellectual property litigation matters. Mr. Hall often provides presentations and lectures to technology clients and civic groups in the community. He is currently serving as the President of the Lend An EAR Foundation, and is a director for United Controls Corporation.
Mr. Hall received his B.S., magna cum laude, from Auburn University and his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was awarded the Order of the Coif and Hugo Black Scholar Award. Mr. Hall was also a Senior Editor for the Alabama Law Review.
About Mark Swanson
Mark Swanson joined the Huntsville office after graduating from the University of Alabama Law School magna cum laude in May 2006. While attending law school, Mr. Swanson served a judicial internship for the Southern District of Alabama under The Honorable Senior U.S. District Judge Charles Butler, Jr. Prior to entering law school, he worked as a Production Engineer for Ciba Specialty Chemicals in McIntosh, Alabama, where he introduced new products to the facility, managed the capital budget, ensured environmental compliance, and served as a member of the production team.
Mr. Swanson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Whitman College before earning a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University. Mr. Swanson recently passed the Alabama Bar exam.
