Jericho Systems Awarded Second US Patent for Personalization and Targeted Marketing
Wednesday, October 13, 2010
Dallas, TX -- Jericho Systems Corporation, a leading provider of distributed enterprise identity and access management solutions for evolving SOA environments, announced that it has been issued patent number 7,792,828 by the US Patent and Trademark Office. This new patent includes 21 claims covering the application of Jericho’s previously patented EnterSpace Decisioning Service (ESDS) to enable secure, fine-grained, rules-based selection and delivery of the most relevant content for a consumer at that precise moment in time.
Jericho Systems Corporation has been providing secure, personalized content delivery through the use of digital policy and contextual attributes for eight years, predating many current content delivery systems. Most products that claim personalization capabilities focus primarily on enabling an organization to decide what content or advertising will be delivered to online users that share a set of common attributes, often referred to as a persona. This ‘one-to-many’ personalization technology can offer many advantages over sites that offer identical content to everyone.
But Jericho’s ESDS goes much further to deliver ‘one-to-one’ personalization. First, its powerful Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) decisioning engine offers far more fine-grained control through the use of security and business policies that can draw upon an unlimited number of contextual attributes to securely decide which content is available to an individual user, and to then select and rank the most appropriate content for that user at that instant. Real-time dynamic enrichment of variables within the decision context occurs through the retrieval of additional information required to evaluate the pertinent policies. Administrative effort is reduced and simplified, because ESDS policies are defined individually with no interdependence upon other policies, personas, or users. The decisioning engine then dynamically combines all of the policies and contextual variables on a real-time basis.
Second, the centralized ESDS offers distributed administration features that enable not only the organization but also the individual consumer to define their own personalization policies. It puts the viewer or subscriber in charge of what content is important to them and how it should be delivered. The combination of organizational and personal policies enables all the benefits of true ‘one-to-one’ personalized information delivery.
“This new patent focuses on the use of Jericho’s attribute-based access control (ABAC) solution for targeted marketing and personalization, and perfectly complements our existing patent for the use of ABAC to provide flexible, secure access to enterprise services and data resources,” said Brynn Mow, CEO of Jericho Systems. “Because content delivery can now be managed by the consumer as well as by the provider, individuals and families will soon have much more control over the content flowing into their home – whether it’s from the Web, social networking sites, internet-based movies and television, or even digital telephone services. This puts the receipt of personalized content back into the hands of those concerned about family values, privacy and security.”
