Leading IP Litigator Patricia Martone Joins Morrison & Foerster in New York as Partner

First-chair trial lawyer boosts firm’s East Coast IP practice
New York, NY -- Morrison & Foerster is pleased to announce that Patricia A. Martone has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Ms. Martone is among the country’s most successful patent trial attorneys and has been lead counsel in more than 40 patent infringement cases. Her trial experience includes playing a leading role in winning victories for Polaroid in the historic Polaroid v. Kodak trials. She has tried 12 cases to verdict or judgment, winning 10 and settling two on favorable terms after post-trial proceedings. The span of her trial experience encompasses patent and trademark infringement as well as commercial litigation. Ms. Martone’s has litigated complex patent infringement cases across a broad range of technologies, and she has particular expertise in the electronics, semiconductor and telecom sectors. Her practice also includes patent licensing advice, adversarial licensing negotiations, and resolution of technology related contract disputes.

Martone joins Morrison & Foerster from Ropes & Gray in New York, where she was co-head of the firm's International Practice Group. She received her law degree from New York University School of Law where she was managing editor of the Review of Law & Social Change and received the Founder’s Day Award. She has been an adjunct professor there since 1990. Martone graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry from N.Y.U. and an M.A. in Physical Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, among others.
