Silicon Valley Office of McDermott, Will & Emery Adds Intellectual Property Partner

Palo Alto, CA -- The Silicon Valley office of McDermott Will & Emery (www.mwe.com) is pleased to announce the arrival of Rick C. Chang as partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department.

Mr. Chang’s practice focuses on various aspects of intellectual property litigation including, patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret litigation, as well as technology licensing and other related disputes.

"We are excited to have Rick join our team," commented Terrence P. McMahon, head of the Firm’s global Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department. "Mr. Chang’s litigation skills and experience adds strength to our Silicon Valley team and supports our ever growing IP practice."

Mr. Chang has appeared in several federal district courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). His recent clients include semiconductor, internet, software, electronic and pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Chang has successfully represented a leading supplier of power management components in multiple jury trials in the Eastern District of Texas which resulted in verdicts of willful infringement and permanent injunctions against the defendants. Mr. Chang also actively engages in pro bono efforts and has obtained a favorable settlement in a Title VII action in the Northern District of California.

Mr. Chang earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and his B.A. in molecular and cell biology and German from the University of California, Berkeley. He served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Maxine M. Chesney of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and to the Honorable A. William Maupin of the Nevada Supreme Court. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is a registered patent attorney admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
