Tangoe Awarded Mobile Device Management Patent

Orange, CT -- Tangoe, Inc., a leading global provider of enterprise communications lifecycle management software and related services, today announced it has been awarded a patent for mobile device authorization, configuration, provisioning, and administration. The patent (U.S. Patent No. 7,917,641), which describes systems and methods incorporated within Tangoe’s mobile device management (MDM) technology, is the latest of 12 patents in the company’s IP portfolio covering key areas of communications lifecycle management.
“As in any high growth market, we have always believed it is imperative to protect the substantial intellectual property and innovations contained within our technology assets,” said Al Subbloie, president, CEO, and founder of Tangoe. “We are very pleased to secure the issuance of our twelfth patent; one which encompasses key mobile device management functions critical to an effective and comprehensive MDM solution.”
The patent contains 28 claims directed toward a rules-based framework solution to control how mobile users and devices are provisioned and configured onto corporate communications networks including various functions such as a portal for device configuration, management and control; authenticating and authorizing the user to provision the device onto the enterprise network; a rules engine to systematically determine, via performance monitoring and evaluation functions, the optimal email server on which to provision the device; installing software onto the device; monitoring software licensing on the device; and multiple other end user and administrative control functions.
