New Basic Patent Training Course For Patent Paralegals and Patent Administrators

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Paralegals interested in patent law as a career may gain the specialized knowledge necessary to help secure a position

PatentEducationSeries.com has launched their newly updated Basic Patent Training ™course. It is a self-paced course aimed at helping individuals get up-to-speed on the fundamentals of patent law. This includes individuals interested in pursuing patent law as a career such as patent paralegals and patent administrators.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS.gov) states the job outlook for paralegals and legal assistants is expected to grow at 17% from 2012 through 2022. This is faster than the average rate of growth for all occupations. The typical entry-level education for paralegals is an Associate's degree making this high growth career accessible to many individuals.

Also according to the BLS.gov website, the 2012 median pay for paralegals and legal assistants is $46,990 per year. Paralegal salaries average at $48,720 on the website GlassDoor.com. In addition, GlassDoor.com records the average salary for patent paralegals at $68,784 making the specialty a much more lucrative career.

Patent paralegals support patent agents and patent attorneys at law firms specializing in intellectual property needs. Patent paralegals often spend their time conducting legal research and drafting legal documents.

The patent prosecution process is highly complex and therefore requires additional training for paralegals interested in working in the patent law field. Although there is currently no specialized certification required, paralegals need to gain knowledge about patent law to work in the field.

The newly launched Basic Patent Training™ course is completely updated for current patent law including the America Invents Act (AIA). With it's easy to understand training modules, interactive quizzes, and glossary of patent law terms it serves to provide a solid overview on patent law. The course is available completely online or in hard-copy format. Please visit http://www.patenteducationseries.com/products/basic-patent-training for more information.
