Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Phoenix, AZ -- Randall B. Jackson, chief executive officer of Residential Cruise Line Ltd. (RCL) announces the Company has received a United States Design Patent for the Magellan, the world's largest residential cruise ship. Patent number US D570,277 S was issued to Randall Jackson on June 3, 2008. According to the Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the patent protects the ship's design from others making, using, offering for sale or selling the design throughout the United States or importing the design into the United States for fourteen years from the date of the grant of the patent.
The original design patent was requested in August of 2006. Randall Jackson worked in conjunction with the internationally acclaimed Norwegian firm of Peter Yarn and Bjorn Storbraaten Architects A.S., to design a residential cruise ship with exclusive features and amenities never before been seen on a residential cruise ship of this magnitude.
"The Magellan will be a home-away-from home for many of its residents," said Randall B. Jackson, chief executive officer. "With its unique design features protected by the patent issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, every owner will be proud knowing their residence is unlike any other at sea."
The Magellan offers full and fractional ownership of luxuriously appointed residences and penthouses as well as such unprecedented amenities as a full-service retractable marina, on-call private helicopters, a satellite broadcast capable theater and 24-hour on-call concierge service to name just a few.
Private residences on the Magellan range in price from $2.82 million to $8 million for penthouses and from $300,000 for fractional ownership residences.
