February 22nd – Net Neutrality and Respecting Internet Users
Patrick Ross, Executive Director, The Copyright Alliance

It is in the best interest of any broadband user who adheres to the law to see that other customers filling up the broadband pipe with infringing traffic are stymied; that leaves more pipe for the legal user. Have you ever streamed a movie or TV show through Netflix? Before the presentation begins, there’s a pause. That is Netflix determining how much downstream bandwidth you have available to you from your ISP. Patrick Ross, Executive Director, The Copyright Alliance

The Federal Trade Commission said today that it has warned nearly one hundred U.S. companies that personal information, including sensitive data about customers and/or employees, is floating around on P2P networks, putting those customers and employees at risk of identity theft or fraud. Patrick Ross, Executive Director, The Copyright Alliance

I’d like to begin by giving a shoutout to the King of Norway. Then I’ll explain why we at the Copyright Alliance are all about the word "go."

How cool is that?

February 23rd – Intellectual Property Key Driver of GDP Around World
Patrick Ross, Executive Director, The Copyright Alliance

The Property Rights Alliance (PRA) (http://www.propertyrightsalliance.org/) has outdone itself with the 2010 International Property Rights Index (IPRI) Report (http://www.internationalpropertyrightsindex.org/) , which once again highlights the close coordination of strong rule of law and physical and intellectual property rights in a nation’s economic success. The latest data (http://www.propertyrightsalliance.org/report-emphasizes-connection-property-rights-economic-a2891) shows those countries in the top quintile on those yardsticks have an average GDP per capita of $35,676, almost double the second quintile ($20,087), and well above the third ($9,375), fourth ($4,699) and fifth ($4,437) quintiles.
