The always insightful Andrew Keen <http://andrewkeen.typepad.com/> , author of The Cult of the Amateur, shook things up (as he always does) by arguing only 10% of us have talent. He gave himself a bit of distance by saying he was quoting Barry Diller, but as someone who works every day with creators across the U.S., I think there’s something to that statistic. Creators, true creators, are different, and we should be forever grateful for that.

April 26th – Live from IPI’s World IP Day: The Challenge for Creators in the Developing World

Here at the Copyright Alliance we tend to focus on U.S. artists and creators, but creativity and cultural contributions are global. International treaties provide rights under law to artists around the world, but that doesn’t mean their own countries take steps to enforce their IP laws and protect their creators’ rights. That was clear today at the 5th annual World IP Day event here on Capitol Hill hosted by the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) <http://www.ipi.org/>.

April 27th – An Intern’s Perspective on IPI’s 5th World IP Day

Yesterday was my first World IP Day hosted by the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) <http://www.ipi.org/>, and I was humbled by the number of brilliant and impassioned individuals who attended. When I first arrived, the conference room was surprisingly empty, but by the time the event was underway, there were periods where it was so crowded that some people had to stand. If the attendance wasn’t enough, the in-depth and comprehensive questions asked at the end of each session indicated to the level of curiosity and/or motivation of the attendees.

April 27th – Summary of Latest Net Neutrality Filings at the FCC

Oh, deadlines. Yesterday was the new deadline for reply comments at the Federal Communications Commission in their proceeding examining the merits of imposing network neutrality regulations. As I’ve written before, copyright owners have an interest in how this debate unfolds, whether that owner feels new regulations are needed or not.
