Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Davis, CA -- XtremeSignPost, Inc., a biotechnology company engaged in developing mobile methods to store, retrieve, and disseminate information using RFID technology, has been granted patent number 7,843,334 entitled “Method to promote and distribute multimedia content using radio frequency identification tags” by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The patent discloses a novel, mobile method to advertise commercial products. In this process, RFID-enabled cell phones are used to recall and share consumer experiences from personalized RFID-tagged consumer products. The claims include methods to personalize and advertise commercial products such as postcards, tickets, fishing lures, surfboards, skis, snowboards, clothing, and vehicles. The claims comprise of an RFID based method to share and disseminate information such as trademarks, brand names, company names, or copyrighted material from personalized items.
XtremeSignPost links memories in the form of videos, photos, and audio files to RFID-tagged products. Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled cell phones are used to instantly recall memorable events by simply touching the surface of the RFID-tagged items. Since the data is on the cell phone it can be rapidly shared using SMS, instant messaging, email, or social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. The system is called “The Internet of Experiences.” It introduces a new paradigm in advertising that enhances viral marketing, brand name identification, consumer loyalty, and customer satisfaction. Advertisements powered by XtremeSignPost will work seamlessly with Nokia’s Symbian, Apple’s iPhone, ISIS Mobile Payment, and Google’s Gingerbread platforms. “We look forward to consumer based advertising that allows them to share their experiences from RFID-tagged equipment and clothing. I can’t wait to go RFID skiing in Utah and RFID fishing in Fiji and Alaska,” stated Dr. Monto Kumagai, CEO and President of XtremeSignPost, Inc.
