Cantor Colburn Adds Experienced IP Duo with Expertise in Generic Pharmaceuticals, Chemical Arts

Hartford, CT — Cantor Colburn LLP announced today that Jeffery B. Arnold and Jo-Anne M. Kokoski have joined the firm as partner and counsel respectively. Mr. Arnold will be based in the Atlanta office and Ms. Kokoski in the Hartford office.

Mr. Arnold is actively involved in assisting generic drug companies with abbreviated new drug applications and launch-at-risk opinions, as well as related litigation. Ms. Kokoski has substantial experience litigating generic pharmaceutical, chemical and other types of patent and complex cases in federal court.

Jeffery B. Arnold

Jeffery B. Arnold, an intellectual property attorney with more than twenty years’ experience, has joined Cantor Colburn as a partner in our Atlanta office. Jeff concentrates his practice on chemistry and chemical engineering; chemical manufacturing processes; biochemistry; medicinal chemistry; pharmaceuticals; polymers and related engineering; catalyst systems, particularly those employed in petrochemical industry; materials and material science; flooring products; medical devices; and mechanical devices and systems. He has counseled clients on strategies for managing and protecting patent portfolios; prepared validity, infringement, and patentability opinions; represented clients in all aspects of patent prosecution; and has been engaged in supporting numerous litigation matters.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Arnold was an administrative law and trial attorney with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Prior to that, Mr. Arnold was as a chemical engineer with Texaco, Inc. Mr. Arnold earned his J.D. degree from the Loyola University School of Law and a B.S. in chemical engineering with honors from the University of Tennessee. He is a part-time graduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he is pursuing a doctorate in biochemistry. He is admitted in Georgia, Louisiana, New York, and to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Jo-Anne M. Kokoski

Ms. Kokoski has substantial experience litigating patent and other types of complex cases in federal court. She has been involved in all aspects of pharmaceutical, chemical and medical device patent litigation, from fact and expert discovery to summary judgment and trial. She participated in jury and bench trials in the District of Delaware and the Southern District of New York, and in appeals to the Federal Circuit. She also has litigated cases involving the Hatch-Waxman Amendments.

Ms. Kokoski also has substantial experience counseling clients regarding patent infringement and validity issues as well as FDA issues involving the development and marketing of generic pharmaceuticals. Ms. Kokoski’s undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is in chemical engineering and her J.D. is from Washington University in St. Louis. She is admitted in Illinois and Connecticut and to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
