Monday, December 06, 2010

Washington, DC -- Anderson Kill & Olick is pleased to announce that Gina A. Hough has joined the firm's Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Intellectual Property group. Ms. Hough comes to Anderson Kill from Dickstein Shapiro LLP.

Nationally recognized for her work as counsel to financial services firms in the intellectual property arena, Ms. Hough focuses her practice on IP portfolio strategy, and licensing and technology transactions. Ms. Hough's work on behalf of banks and other financial services organizations also includes insurance coverage litigation, including cases against major mortgage insurers.

A former Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Fannie Mae, Ms. Hough has extensive corporate in-house experience spanning the full range of IP matters including patent, trademark, and copyright issues, as well as IP strategic planning, licensing, data management, and privacy matters. At Anderson Kill, she also plans to work with the anti-counterfeiting/brand integrity group, whose efforts are underpinned by deep grounding in IP matters.

“Joining Anderson Kill & Olick is a terrific opportunity,” said Ms. Hough. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to build on a strong foundation and help to expand its intellectual property practice across many industries, especially in the financial services sector.”

As Fannie Mae's chief IP officer, Ms. Hough managed all strategic programs to protect IP and integrate IP strategy with corporate goals. Working directly with the Chairman, CEO and other senior leaders, she built Fannie Mae's IP office from the ground up, helping the company amass a portfolio of hundreds of assets.

"We are tremendously energized at the prospect of Gina joining our team," said Rhonda D. Orin, Managing Partner of Anderson Kill's Washington, D.C. office. "Gina's pioneering work and recognized leadership in financial services intellectual property management creates tremendous opportunities for Anderson Kill to expand its services to the financial industry. We see synergies in insurance recovery as well as with our antitrust and corporate and securities practices."

Prior to her tenure at Fannie Mae, Ms. Hough was in-house counsel for Digital Equipment Corporation, now Hewlett Packard, both as Senior Corporate Counsel (Telecommunications and Marketing) and Corporate Counsel (Acquisitions). She began her career in private practice as a litigation associate at Sherin and Lodgen in Boston. Ms. Hough also was a law clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Massachusetts.

Ms. Hough holds an A.B. from Smith College (1981) and a J.D. from Boston College Law School (1985).
