Min Lee, Seasoned Privacy and Intellectual Property Lawyer, Rejoins Debevoise

Monday, September 09, 2013

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP today announced that Min Lee has rejoined the firm as Counsel in its New York office. She will work closely with the firm’s Privacy and Data Security practice as well as the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group.

Ms. Lee rejoins Debevoise from Penguin Random House, where she was Vice President, Associate General Counsel, serving as legal counsel for the Crown Publishing Group, the Random House Digital Group, Smashing Ideas Inc., and the Prima Games, Princeton Review and Sylvan Publications imprints. Ms. Lee oversaw the roll-out of the company’s corporate privacy policy and regularly advised the company on a wide range of privacy-related issues. Her responsibilities also included managing claims and enforcing rights relating to books, including negotiations, settlement and litigation supervision. She was an associate at Debevoise from 2001 to 2005 and joined Random House in 2006.

Mary Beth Hogan, co-chair of Debevoise’s Litigation Department, said: “We are delighted to welcome Min back to the firm. Her in-house experience handling complex privacy issues for one of the world’s leading publishing companies will strengthen the capabilities of both our growing Privacy and Data Security practice and our well-established Intellectual Property Litigation Group.”

Ms. Lee said: “I have always had fond memories of the four years I spent at Debevoise earlier in my career. Since that time, the firm’s reputation for handling some of the most complex privacy and intellectual property-related matters for marquee clients has only grown. I am excited to return to the firm to work with many of my former colleagues, and also to work closely with clients in a broad range of sectors.”

Ms. Lee earned her J.D. in 2001 from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, where she received the Moot Court Special Recognition for Advocacy and was co-editor-in-chief of the Asian Law Journal. She received her B.A. from Dartmouth College, where she graduated magna cum laude, served as class orator, was a Rufus Choate Scholar and received the Outstanding Publication Award, among other distinctions.

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is a leading international law firm, representing a wide range of clients in transactions and disputes around the world. Founded in 1931, the firm has offices in New York, Washington, D.C., London, Paris, Frankfurt, Moscow, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
