Fish & Richardson Principal Josť P. Sierra Elected Regional President of Hispanic National Bar Association

Thursday, September 12, 2013

Fish & Richardson today announced that José P. Sierra, a Principal in the firm’s Litigation Group, has been elected Regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). During Sierra’s two-year term as president of Region I, which serves the New England states, his main objective will be to secure the selection of Boston as the host city for the 2016 HNBA Annual Meeting and Conference.

Locations for HNBA’s annual conventions, which bring together over a thousand Hispanic attorneys, judges, and students, are selected as part of a highly competitive bidding process. Boston, whose Hispanic and Latino population represents over 17 percent of the total population, has never before hosted an HNBA convention or meeting.

Sierra also will work to further expand HNBA’s presence and influence in the region, primarily by increasing membership, fundraising, and building strategic alliances and partnerships within the business, legal, and political communities of greater Boston and New England.

At Fish, Sierra works in the firm’s life sciences and medical device industry practices focusing on litigation, government investigations, compliance, and risk management. Previously, he was a chief compliance officer for two pharmaceutical companies and a federal prosecutor. He received his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1985 and his B.A., with honors, from the University of Notre Dame in 1981.

Founded 40 years ago, HNBA is an incorporated, not-for-profit, national organization. With more than 100,000 members, it serves as the national voice of the Hispanic legal community.

Fish & Richardson is a global law firm providing strategic counseling and litigation services to innovative clients who seek to protect and maximize the value of their intellectual property (IP).
