An intellectual property lawyer with a focus on patent issues joins the global legal practice of Norton Rose Fulbright’s US member firm as a partner in its Los Angeles office.

David Ben-Meir, formerly a partner at Alston & Bird, has nearly two decades of experience in intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent litigation and patent enforcement disputes. David has worked on patent cases for clients based in the US, Japan and China, focusing on technology claims involving consumer electronics, communications and software. His practice also includes patent license negotiations, and IP transactions and counseling.

Kenneth Stewart, Managing Partner of Norton Rose Fulbright’s US member firm, said:

“Legal issues in the technology and innovation industries continue to expand, and David’s substantial experience will be a valuable addition to the intellectual property group and a significant resource for our clients.”

Before starting his legal career, David worked as a research and development engineer, earning recognition for achievements in solving real-world automatic pattern recognition problems.

Jim Repass, the firm’s Head of Intellectual Property, commented:

“Our commitment to client service and quality work has established us as a leading firm in intellectual property. Our recent combination is reinforcing that reputation globally. David’s international practice, combined with his patent experience in the fields of electronics, computer science, communications and software, makes him a terrific fit and an important addition to our team.”

David, who is admitted to practice law in California and before the US Patent and Trademark Office, said:

“Norton Rose Fulbright’s IP team is well-known and respected, and I look forward to being part of such a distinguished and committed group.”

Peter Mason, Partner-in-Charge of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Los Angeles office, commented:

“We are pleased to welcome David to the Los Angeles office. His intellectual property experience will bolster the client services offered here and across Norton Rose Fulbright.”

David received his JD from Loyola Law School, his MS in electrical engineering from California State University and his BS in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
