John C. Thomure Jr. Joins Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C.

John C. Thomure, Jr., who has relocated to New York from the Michael Best & Friedrich law firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has joined Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C.. John adds his experience to our Litigation, Intellectual Property, and Customs, International Cargo and Regulatory Compliance Groups. He is a general commercial litigator qualified to assist clients in almost any kind of business dispute. He has handled a variety of disputes involving misappropriation of trade secrets, trademarks, non-competes, commercial agreements, fiduciary duties, shareholder disputes, U.S. Customs investigations, penalty, seizure and forfeiture proceedings.
John co-founded his former firm’s Non-Competition and Trade Secret Protection group and served as the co-head of the group for many years. He has extensive experience representing companies and groups of individuals when employees leave to start or join a competing business. John also assists clients in purchasing, selling and licensing trade secrets. Clients often ask John to advise them on policies and procedures to protect their confidential information from economic espionage and draft employment agreements for employees that include restrictive covenants. He has written and spoken extensively on protecting trade secrets and commercially valuable confidential information.
In addition to litigation, John represents start-ups and privately owned businesses in general corporate matters and serves as the outside general counsel of a logistics company advising management on corporate, regulatory and litigation matters.
The Legal 500 United States recommended Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman as a Top Tier Firm in the field of Copyright. It also recommended us in the fields of Trademark litigation and Trademark counseling.
