Previously a partner in Dentons’ Silicon Valley office, Mr. Khaliq joins three Dentons colleagues in Arent Fox’s San Francisco office. They include partner Arthur S. Mr. Khaliq represents clients in federal and state courts in California, Texas, New York, Delaware, Florida, and Nevada, as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and in patent acquisition and post-grant proceedings before the USPTO and Patent Trials and Appeals Board. He also provides strategic counseling, freedom to operate opinions, patent invalidity analysis, and due diligence on IP assets for mergers, acquisitions, and financing.

“Arent Fox’s Intellectual Property practice has been recognized as exceptional, with a reputation for finding creative solutions to difficult challenges,” said Mr. Khaliq. “It is one of the few “go-to” firms for novel and high-profile intellectual property issues and I am looking forward to collaborating with these very talented colleagues.”

Deeply involved in the legal community, Mr. Khaliq is a leading member of the Palo Alto Area Bar Association and serves as co-chair of its Patent Section where he frequently leads conferences and panels on cutting-edge patent issues. He also is a member of the local Inns of Court. A dynamic speaker, he has been a popular guest lecturer on IP courses at the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Mr. Khaliq obtained his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2004 with honors in Intellectual Property, where he was a research fellow at the McCarthy Institute of Intellectual Property, vice president of the Intellectual Property Law Association and editor-in-chief of the USF Intellectual Property Law Bulletin. He previously was a researcher in Neuroscience at the University of California at Los Angeles, (UCLA), where he obtained his science degree in Neuroscience, and is currently working on a master’s degree (LLM) in Chinese business law through the Open University of Hong Kong. He also speaks Hindi and Urdu.
