Chicago-based Partner assumes leadership of American Intellectual Property Law Association Group

With more than 20 years of experience assisting clients, especially high-tech companies and manufacturers, with strategic development, management and utilization of strong patent portfolios, Paul Kitch has taken on a new role in the industry as Vice Chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Patent Law Committee.

Mr. Kitch, a partner based in Nixon Peabody’s Chicago office, focuses on patent prosecution, litigation and counseling. He is successful in getting infringing products off the market and obtaining related damages. Additionally, he counsels clients concerning a variety of other aspects of intellectual property including copyright, trademark and general intellectual property matters. One of the patent portfolios Mr. Kitch has been assisting a client build for over 20 years was ranked #1 for patent quality in Chicago Crain’s 2013 Eureka Index.

The AIPLA Patent Law Committee evaluates the extent to which the constitutional purpose of Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, regarding the rights of inventors, is being achieved and reports its findings to the Board of Directors with recommendations for any changes in statute, rule, regulation, or practice which may better achieve this purpose. The Committee routinely works with policy, litigation, legislative, and prosecution experts, including in-house counsel at small to major corporations and outside counsel at boutique and general practice firms.
