Merchant & Gould Adds Eight Attorneys to Its Nationwide Intellectual Property Law Practice

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

Merchant & Gould, a leading intellectual property law firm with offices across the U.S., announced today the addition of two attorneys in its Atlanta office, three in its Denver location and three in its Minneapolis headquarters.

Dr. Laurie S. Sanii, a published, award-winning scholar, possesses an extensive academic background in chemistry, including a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, as well as hands-on industry experience. That experience spans the fields of clinical chemistry, paper, oil and gas. She is a member of the firm’s Chemical and Life Sciences Practice Group.

Anthony M. Duncan, Jr., a 2012 graduate of Howard University School of Law, also holds a degree from that university’s College of Engineering, Architecture and Computer Science. Duncan joins the firm as an associate in the Electrical and Software Practice Group

Michael S. Wagner, a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder Law School, practices with an emphasis on patent prosecution and litigation. Prior to joining Merchant & Gould, he worked with the Colorado Center for Lunar Dust and Atmospheric Studies, a division of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. In addition to his doctor of law degree, he holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado.

Danielle K. Morrow, who earned her doctor of law degree from the University of Denver, is also a software engineer with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering; she worked at Northrup Grumman before pursuing a legal career. She is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Barton W. Emery holds a 2013 doctor of law degree from the University of Colorado Law School, where he also earned an Entrepreneurial Law Certificate.

Brian P. Wallenfelt focuses on patent prosecution in the electrical and mechanical arts. Prior to his legal career, he served in various engineering and management roles at multiple technology and medical device companies, ranging in maturity from early-stage startup to established multinational. He is a prolific inventor with more than 20 patents filed and 17 issued. Wallenfelt, who also holds degrees in computer engineering and science, is an award-winning, summa cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, where he served as executive editor of its Law Review.

Lotta K. Breyer, a native of Finland, holds a degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Helsinki and a doctor of law degree with an intellectual property concentration from the University of Minnesota. Breyer comes to Merchant & Gould with more than eight years of industry experience in biofuels and bioproducts; her roles in the corporate sector included research scientist, laboratory manager and intellectual property manager. She applies this client-side perspective in her practice of general intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution.

Sangki Park, a South Korean native, holds a B.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Seoul National University and a law degree from Washington University School of Law. He practices intellectual property law with an emphasis in the mechanical and electrical arts. Park is fully qualified and registered as a South Korean patent attorney, having successfully represented several multinational companies before the South Korean Intellectual Property Office and Patent Court.

“These attorneys each bring a unique mix of practical and legal experience. They significantly add to Merchant & Gould’s comprehensive depth and range.” said Brian Batzli, Managing Director and CEO of Merchant & Gould. “I am confident that each will provide top end legal services and value to our clients.”
