Christopher Potts Joins Cantor Colburn LLP in its Atlanta Office

Cantor Colburn LLP, one of the country’s leading intellectual property (IP) law firms, announced today the hiring of Christopher A. Potts as an Associate in the firm’s Atlanta office. Mr. Potts has experience in several areas of IP, including litigation in federal courts; preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications; post-grant proceedings, including reexamination proceedings; and performing freedom-to-operate, due diligence, and clearance searching and analysis. His practice includes generic pharmaceuticals, including litigation and validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions in support of Abbreviated New Drug Applications and launch-at-risk evaluations/opinions.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Potts worked as an engineer in a medical device start-up company focusing on membrane technologies with glucose monitoring applications. His responsibilities included developing bovine blood testing protocol and other bench-scale testing procedures. Mr. Potts also drafted Small Business Innovation Research grant proposals for the start-up. He also worked as a process engineer (co-op) for Cargill, Inc. in their Dressings, Sauces, and Oils facility in Vernon-Los Angeles, California, as well as Cargill’s salt refinery located in Akron, Ohio. While obtaining a B.S. in chemical and biomolecular engineering from The Ohio State University, Mr. Potts worked in a research lab conducting research on the kinetic optimization of solid-state bioreactors. He also has previous in-house legal experience serving as a legal intern in General Electric’s Global Patent Operation.
Mr. Potts received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law with honors. He is admitted to the state bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and to the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
