Patchen Haggerty Adds Additional Depth to Firm’s Trademark & Copyright Practice

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Patchen Haggerty has joined the Seattle office as a partner in the firm’s Trademark & Copyright practice. Haggerty was most recently a partner with Dorsey & Whitney in Seattle.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Patchen to Perkins Coie,” said Fred Rivera, Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Seattle office. “Her exceptional background in global trademark prosecution, enforcement and IP transactional matters is well recognized and will be of great value to many of our clients.”

Haggerty manages global trademark portfolios and trademark enforcement programs for market-leading companies, guiding them in the protection, development, commercialization, licensing, assignment and sale of intellectual property rights and assets. She advises companies in managing the risks associated with registration of new Generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) and assists clients on complex and strategic legal and business matters relating to trademark, trade dress, copyright, trade secret, domain name, IP due diligence, privacy and Internet security.

Haggerty regularly handles trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, concurrent use proceedings and trademark application appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Her trademark enforcement matters include dispute resolution and administrative actions around the world.

“Patchen’s strategic business and legal skills make her an outstanding IP resource for clients in a variety of industries,” said Grace Han Stanton, chair of Perkins Coie’s Trademark & Copyright Practice. “Her particular strength in connection with domain name issues, trademark licensing, and IP enforcement work are also focuses of our practice, so she’s a terrific fit. We are extraordinarily pleased to have an experienced attorney of her caliber join our practice.”

Haggerty received her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law (Order of the Barristers) and her B.A. from Purdue University. Haggerty is ranked as one of the “World’s Leading Trademark Professionals” in the WorldTrademark Review 1000, is recognized as an “IP Star” by Managing Intellectual Property Magazine and has been ranked in IP law by Chambers USA.
