Evalueserve IP Forms Joint Venture with Sony and Hazuki International

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Global research and analytics company Evalueserve has set up a joint venture (JV) in the field of intellectual property services with Fortune Global 500 company Sony and international IP law firm Hazuki International (headquartered in Tokyo). The JV, called IPValueserve, will offer Japanese corporates an innovative and highly efficient new process of filing and prosecuting patents in the US.

“We have worked with Evalueserve for some time, and believe that its ability to reduce the cost of U.S. patent applications by 30-50% without compromising quality will be beneficial to many Japanese companies” says Toshimoto Mitomo, the head of global IP at Sony. “We are very pleased with this development, and look forward to the near future when Evalueserve’s products will be available globally to anyone who is interested in a low-cost, high-quality patent filing service.” Yoshiaki Kameya, thefounder and representative of Hazuki International, adds, “Since Japanese companies are among the heaviest patent filers in the US, we expect a substantial demand for IPValueserve’s services.”

Hazuki International is responsible for translation, legal review, and filing at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) through US lawyers.

“This innovative partnership will help in growing our prosecution support business and will also be a valuable addition to our core services - IP search, licensing analytics, innovation intelligence, and R&D information services,” says Urs Dommann, the head of intellectual property and R&D solutions at Evalueserve. Evalueserve will be responsible for drafting office action responses in English and checking the quality of English translations.
