Tuesday, April 01, 2014

Schiff Hardin LLP is pleased to announce that Imron T. Aly has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Group as a partner in the Chicago office. Mr. Aly will co-lead the Group’s Pharmaceuticals and Biologics Patent Litigation Client Service Team along with partner Sailesh K. Patel.

Mr. Aly’s practice focuses on patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation litigation, with an emphasis in pharmaceuticals, medical implants and devices, and computer and network patents. He previously was a partner at Winston & Strawn in Chicago.

“I am delighted to welcome Imron to the firm and as co-chair of our nationally renowned Hatch-Waxman and biologics practice,” said Mr. Patel. “Imron is a very talented patent litigator and trial lawyer who has a keen understanding of the scientific issues and who is also a powerful advocate in the courtroom. Imron has successfully handled numerous high-stakes patent litigation matters. He will add additional depth and expertise to our dynamic and growing practice.”

Stephen M. Hankins, leader of Schiff Hardin’s Intellectual Property Group, added, “Our patent litigation attorneys are unique due to their dual expertise both in complex science and sophisticated trial work. Imron’s diverse practice, and, in particular, his expertise in pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, makes him a perfect complement to our team.”

“Schiff Hardin has an established team of pharmaceutical and biotech patent litigation attorneys. The firm is well situated to continue its growth in these sectors. I am also enthusiastic about the opportunities in the medical device field. I am pleased to join Schiff Hardin and I look forward to working together with my new colleagues,” said Mr. Aly.

Schiff Hardin’s national pharmaceutical and biologics patent litigation team has substantial experience in assisting generic pharmaceutical manufacturers and developers of biosimilar products. The firm has represented in a wide variety of legal matters a number of pharmaceutical and biologics companies, businesses that supply them and companies that distribute their products.

“One of Schiff Hardin’s greatest strengths is our experience litigating sophisticated patent infringement lawsuits around the country,” said Ronald S. Safer, Schiff Hardin’s Managing Partner. “Our clients are part of highly competitive and fast-changing industries, and Schiff Hardin is committed to helping our partners compete effectively. We have a strong and aggressive Intellectual Property Group and Imron adds to that strength,” added Mr. Safer.

Mr. Aly also is experienced in patent litigation and trade secret misappropriation matters in other technical areas, including medical devices, computer business methods and financial trading systems, among others. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., magna cum laude, 1999) and Duke University (B.S.E., Biomedical Engineering, cum laude, 1996).
