Michael Song Joins Dechert as Partner in Silicon Valley

Thursday, May 08, 2014

Global specialist law firm Dechert LLP announced today that S. Michael Song has joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property practice. Song, most recently a partner at McDermott Will & Emery, will be resident in the firm’s Silicon Valley office.

“Michael is a wonderful addition to our global team,” said Martin Black, co-chair of the firm’s IP practice. “He has extensive experience managing complex patent cases and he will be a great fit for our practice. We look forward to working with him.”

Song focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling for technology companies. Early in his career, he co-founded MemoryLogix, a company that developed next generation multi-core low-power x86-compatible system chips. Song is an inventor of two patents related to processor cache memory technologies.

“Michael brings to his practice the perspective of someone who started and ran a technology company, including developing and managing its intellectual property,” said Ann M. Caviani Pease, co-chair of the firm’s IP practice. “That’s something most litigators do not have, and it will be a background and understanding that greatly benefits our clients.”

Song graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (BSEE) and New York University School of Law (J.D., 1998). He is member of the California Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
