Steptoe Further Expands Intellectual Property Practice in New York
Wednesday, August 06, 2014
Steptoe & Johnson LLP is pleased to announce the arrivals of two more lawyers to its recently expanded national intellectual property practice in New York. The new members follow the arrival of patent litigator John Molenda, who joined the firm last month as co-chair of Steptoe’s Healthcare & Life Sciences industry team. Dr. Molenda, who has a strong life sciences background and holds a doctorate in chemistry, will lead the growth of Steptoe’s IP practice in New York.
The new arrivals, who will work alongside Dr. Molenda in the firm’s New York office, are:
Bobby Greenfeld (of counsel) focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling in the areas of patent, trade secret, unfair competition, trademark, and copyright law. His recent matters have involved consumer electronics, software systems and databases, and telecommunications, among other technologies. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Greenfeld worked as a telecommunications engineer at AT&T Bell Labs developing and testing fiber optics telephone systems. He is a registered professional engineer in electrical engineering, with proficiency in signal processing, video, and optics technologies. Mr. Greenfeld holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively. He earned his law degree from New York University School of Law.
Jeff Lee (associate) focuses his practice on patent litigation and counseling in the biotech/pharma and medical device industries. His experience has included biologics and small-molecule patent litigation (Hatch-Waxman), freedom-to-operate analyses, due diligence analyses in support of corporate transactions, post-grant proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office, and domestic and foreign patent prosecution. Dr. Lee has advised clients on a myriad of technologies, including monoclonal antibodies, recombinant DNA, ventricular assist devices, and coronary stents. Prior to law school, he worked as a patent agent at a genomics company, where he prosecuted patents related to novel proteins. Dr. Lee earned bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and his law degree from American University. He holds a doctorate in neurobiology and anatomy from the University of Utah.
