Atlanta Firm Joins Lee & Hayes

Wednesday, October 01, 2014

Lee & Hayes PLLC, an industry-leading Intellectual Property (IP) law firm with growing corporate and litigation capabilities, continues its rapid growth trajectory with the acquisition of Hope Baldauff, LLC, an Atlanta patent law firm with 11 attorneys, two patent agents and six staff members. The members and employees of Hope Baldauff will officially join Lee & Hayes effective Wednesday, Oct. 1. The Atlanta office is Lee & Hayes’ seventh U.S. location and the fourth office to open since 2011.

“We are really excited to embark on this new relationship with the team at Hope Baldauff,” said Lewis Lee, Lee & Hayes’ co-founder and chairman. “Hope Baldauff’s culture – one that is innovative and transcends the traditional law firm operations model – is a natural fit with Lee & Hayes. Their patent experience and talent is unrivaled.”

Hope Baldauff opened its Atlanta office nine years ago with two attorneys. Like Lee & Hayes, the firm built a strong reputation for patent preparation and prosecution, development of patent portfolios and general IP counseling. Their technical experience in computer and electrical technologies, as well as aerospace, have been critical to serving the needs of their key clients, including Microsoft, Amazon and Boeing. Hope Baldauff has also served American Megatrends, Inc., Cooper Lighting, Ericsson, Southern Company, Genesis Technology USA, Microwave Science and Infoblox.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our team and our clients,” said Leonard Hope, co-founder of Hope Baldauff. “Lee & Hayes is one of the highest quality intellectual property firms in the nation, and the addition of our top-notch attorneys and patent agents, along with our extensive aerospace, computer and other high technology clients, further cements Lee & Hayes’ reputation as an industry leader.”

Among the Hope Baldauff team joining Lee & Hayes, four attorneys will join as partners, including co-founders Leonard Hope and Michael Baldauff, as well as Tim Sullivan and Scott Shigeta.

With the exception of Shigeta and Sullivan, the attorneys, agents and staff will work at the former Hope Baldauff location, 1175 Peachtree Street N.E., 100 Colony Square, Suite 2000, Atlanta, GA 30361. The telephone number will continue to be 404-815-1900. Shigeta and Sullivan will join Lee & Hayes’ Seattle and Austin offices, respectively.

“Lee & Hayes shares our commitment to delivering creative and strategic solutions for our clients by integrating legal, business and technology expertise,” said Michael Baldauff, co-founder of Hope Baldauff. “Together, we will continue to provide innovative IP legal services to clients across the globe.”
